How’s your week been? Did you catch our meditation on Wednesday? If not make sure you’re on our mailing list!

As promised this week we’re sharing with you the difference between mindfulness and meditation so keep reading…

Ok, so I want you to think of MEDITATION as an all-encompassing term for various ways in which you can find connection, calm and concentration. There are lots of types of meditation from silent to breath focused to guided. And then there’s MINDFULNESS; simply put, mindfulness is a TYPE of meditation!

If you are truly being MINDFUL you will inevitably be in a meditative state but you can practice mindfulness in many different ways.

For example, next time you eat something I want you to really be present when you eat it; close your eyes and focus purely on the task at hand, not only the taste of the food but the feeling as you chew it, the smell of it, the temperature, the weight.

Taking a task in isolation is practising mindful actions; so when you run do you listen to music? How about trying to go for a ‘mindful run’; no distractions just tune in to all sense and sensations.

Bringing your FULL mind to an action is practising mindfulness.

Does this make it a little clearer?
