So, that’s right we got married…and it was the BEST weekend ever.

We’ve been to enough weddings over the years to know exactly what we wanted; and more so what we didn’t want our day to be. These are a few things we wanted:

-          NO STRESS!

-          As many of our friends and family as possible (on relatively short notice)

-          More than just 1 day

-          A big party

-          To feel like ‘us’

I’m so pleased to say we succeeded on all of the above (and then some!).

Our wedding was everything that’s real about our friendships, relationships and love of life and travel and we couldn’t be happier with the turn out. For those of you who don’t know we got married in Mallorca, our favourite island, outdoors and in the evening so we could make the most of the day with our wedding party.

Prior to the wedding day we took a catamaran out for the afternoon from Pollensa to Formentor exploring coves, swimming and paddle boarding with our guests who arrived a few days early. You definitely get to know your fellow wedding guests when you spend a few hours drinking with them in just your bikini!

The night before the wedding we invited everybody to meet for dinner and drinks at a local restaurant where we could get the party started and warm up for the BIG DAY…

The wedding venue itself was pretty enough that we didn’t need to do a whole lot to make it feel special, the outside space was traditional, quirky and full of foliage and tea lights. We made the centre pieces ourselves and sent them over with a friend prior to the day. The local florist made the bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets that morning and my mum made the arrangement for the head table from plants and flowers in the garden of the villa.

The ceremony took place at 6.30pm and then the drinks started to flow; the speeches were great, the food was out of this world and the music was on point! What more could we ask for?

After the meal the party started and it didn’t stop until 4am!

In order to continue the fun (and to have a debrief of the previous nights’ antics) we had a ‘recovery’ BBQ the day after the wedding which just topped off the whole 4 days…

Below is a selection of photos from the weekend with the professional ones coming soon! Also read on for a Mallorcan superstition that ensured the sun was shining the whole time…

Do you want to ensure good weather on your wedding day in Mallorca?

If so, it is said that taking an offering of eggs to the Convento de Santa Clara in Palma for the nuns to make baked goods with will guarantee that the sun will shine on your wedding day. Now, I’m not one for superstitions normally but given the spell of thunderstorms the island had for the two weeks before our day I wasn’t leaving anything to chance. Stephen visited the convent, left his tray of eggs and the sun shone all day long! That’s me sold 😊
