We have a brand new offering this year from our training school! Read on for details of SO Elemental coming up in November and our next 200 hour teacher training course starting February 2020.

Welcome to Studio One Yoga Teacher Training…

  • YOU already know that yoga is a powerful tool for mind, body and spirit

  • YOU already reap the reward of a regular practice, a stronger body and a clearer mind

  • YOU already know so much about yoga that you don’t even KNOW you know

NOW you’re ready to share the magic!

Demanding and creative, Studio One Yoga Teacher Training breaks away from the cookie cutter mould of teaching clones. We ask you to bring your personality to the table and use that as the foundation for safe and effective teaching.

Are you ready to find that A-game and start your teaching journey? Read on…

We have a proven track record of producing teachers who have gone on to become successful in their own right; starting classes of their own, opening studios and further training to teach specialised elements of yoga. We couldn’t be prouder of our graduates!

Our course director, Michelle Almond, has been teaching yoga for 13 years and to say she’s ‘done it all’ would be an understatement; she’s worked from the ground up building successful classes in every conceivable space, she owns two yoga studios, manages many corporate and private clients and has spent the last four years passing on her knowledge and experience to student teachers.

We also believe that to be a great yoga teacher you shouldn’t just use yoga as your yard stick! For this reason, we employ some amazing guest teachers who are specialists in their own fields and their goal is to add a whole bunch of stuff to your toolkit that will leave you feeling empowered and equipped to TEACH yoga.

Anatomy and Functional Movement

It’s not enough in the modern world of yoga to follow age old strict alignment of poses, therefore we put a huge emphasis on teaching you how the body moves and how to deliver classes that empower your students to embody the poses for themselves. Our anatomy and posture clinics look at the functional movement and purpose of the pose rather than the aesthetic.

History and Philosophy of Yoga

As with all practices of yoga we need to know and understand WHERE we come from; being able to appreciate our lineage allows us to practice and teach with integrity whilst delivering classes that encompass more than just the asana. We will look at many schools of yoga, discuss developments and advances that impact our teaching and look at how best to weave philosophy and learning into our classes.

Understanding Vinyasa Yoga

This part of the course will be the foundation of your learning and class planning as we look to understand the difference between the typical ‘flow’ class out there and the true embodiment of VINYASA as a practice and teaching style. Think you know the difference? Think again…

Often missed on a 200-hour course (and one of the reasons people leave feeling like they can’t teach when they finish) is the importance of voice; excluding your body this is your tool for your job! So why do so many courses miss it off? Teaching you the difference between Ahimsa and Svadhyaya is one thing but unless you feel confident standing in front of people it’s pretty bloody useless. Our goal is to give you all the skills you need to TEACH that’s why we employ a voice coach, professional singer/performer and NLP practitioner for this module. Historically it has been a firm favourite amongst trainees so get used to hearing your own voice!

Business of Yoga

We spend a chunk of time on this course exploring avenues for teaching, real life opportunities and dreams as big as you can believe! Again, we think that this module is important for you to look at the real-life application of you doing what you’ve spent all this time and money training for. We look at all options from running yoga as a simple side hustle right through to opening a studio and everything in between. Our own accountant provides practical tips and advice around self-employment, bookkeeping and all things admin!

In addition to all of this we cover the following:

Pranayama and Meditation

The Subtle Body

Understanding Sanskrit

Principles and Skills of Teaching

Posture Clinics (and there are many!)

Creative Sequencing

Special Conditions

Adjustments and Assists

And many, many more….
